What is Giloy and its BenefitsIntroduction:-

 Amrita, Amritvalli i.e. the never-drying Tinospora Cordifolia is a thick shrub in the form of a large creeper. It is found up to a height of about 900-1100 feet above sea level. Its stem is very thick. It looks like a rope. Many aerial roots emerge from the soft stem and branches. Yellow and green flowers are found on it in a bunch. The leaves are betel-shaped and the fruits are pea-sized.

It is often found in India from Kumaon to Assam and Burma and from Bihar and Konkan to Karnataka and Ceylon. The tree on which it climbs in the order of Kuntalakar. It also absorbs some of the qualities of the same tree. That is why Tinospora Cordifolia climbed on the neem tree is considered to be the best.

How do you identify  Giloy (Tinospora cordifolia)?

External Appearance:-

The creeper of Giloy is often found climbing in the forest, in the fields, in the rocks, etc. It is also found on mango and neem trees. Its stem is thick. Its distinctive identity is that its outer bark is light brown in paper-like layers. When scraped, it comes out in layers. The stem is green and pulpy from inside. The aerial roots dangling out of its stem, enter the ground and give birth to a new plant. The leaves are alternately betel-shaped, heart-shaped, lattice-shaped, and symmetrically closed. The leaf is very thin. The petiole is 1-3 inches long and the flowers come in small yellow clusters in summer. The fruits also appear in bunches and turn red when ripe. The seeds are white, smooth, somewhat crooked, like grains of chili.

Chemical Organization:-

In addition to about 1.2 percent starch, many bitter bioactive components have been found in Giloy Kand. Giloy contains a bitter glucoside called “guillotine” and three types of alkaloids. One of the main ones is Aksharam Burverein.

Apart from this, bioactive substances called tiktat glucoside, Guillemin, capsanthin, Premarin, riparian, Tinospora are found. It consists of volatile oil and fat, alcohol, glycerol, essential oil, and a variety of fatty acids.

It is a tridosha sedative. Being aliphatic, it quenches Vata, Tikta, being astringent, suppresses Kapha and Pitta. It is leprosy, painstaking, craving, churdinigrahan, lamp, digestion, pittasarak, anuloman, and wormign. Gastric acidity is less than this. It strengthens the heart, is beneficial in blood disorders and pandu diseases. It works best in diabetes, skin diseases, and many types of fever.

In the opinion of modern medical scientists, Giloy shows its effect on the smallest Krimio group to the gross worms. It successfully inhibits the growth of Mycobacterium Tuberculosis bacteria causing tuberculosis. In whatever part of the body these bacteria are lying in a calm state, Giloy destroys them by reaching there.

It uproots the germ called E. coli, which affects the whole body along with the intestine and urinary system.
